The balance of power at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has shifted significantly with U.S. President Donald Trump appointing Mark Uyeda as the acting chair. This move replaces Gary Gensler and signals a potential rollback of his ambitious regulatory agenda, particularly affecting the digital assets sector. Uyeda, a Republican SEC commissioner since June 2022, is expected to steer the SEC in a new direction, diverging from Gensler's approach which often clashed with Wall Street and the cryptocurrency industry.
